JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A great white shark has been tracked to our area yet again.
Katharine, a 14-foot, 2,300-pound shark, is swimming off the Florida-Georgia coast right now. The most recent "ping" from the shark tracker showed near the state line on Wednesday. Each time a shark's dorsal fin breaks the surface of the water, the tagging device sets off a ping that is tracked by a satellite.
The group Ocearch has been tracking Katharine since tagging her in August off Cape Cod, Mass. She's named after songwriter Katharine Lee Bates. She wrote "America the Beautiful."
