JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Officials at the Greenwood School say the school was placed on a brief lockdown Tuesday after a nearby police search for a wanted man.

Troopers say they initiated a traffic stop on Atlantic Boulevard near the Regency Square Mall when the suspect drove onto a side street and eventually bailed out of his vehicle.

A perimeter was set up with help from the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office in the search for the suspect.

Captain Keith Gaston with the Florida Highway Patrol tells Action News drugs were found in the suspect’s car, and it is not known if the suspect is armed.

Law enforcement continues to search for the unidentified suspect.

Operations at the Greenwood School were reported to be back to normal by Tuesday afternoon.
