Gubernatorial candidate campaigns in Nassau County
NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. -- The only publicly announced democratic gubernatorial candidate made a campaign stop in Fernandina Beach Saturday.
Democrat Nan Rich of Broward County attended the Nassau County Democratic Party's 15th Annual Low Country Boil at the Fernandina Beach Golf Club.
The Democrat is trying shore up after a recent Quinnipiac Poll showed that if she wins the primary she would be defeated by Gov. Rick Scott in his reelection bid.
Polls show the incumbent would beat the former state Senate Democratic leader 42 percent to 36 percent.
Scott's poll numbers have risen over the last few months because voters say the state's economy is getting better, according to Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Rich's next campaign stop in Northeast Florida is scheduled for Wednesday at St. Augustine's South Improvement Association.
