GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla.-- There's only one way in to the Twin Oaks subdivision in Green Cove Springs.

When rains started rolling in late Friday morning, it didn't stand a chance.

"We come across about a foot and a half of water and about 30, 40 minutes after that, it was washed out and nobody could get out," Jerell York said.

York and his neighbors have been stranded for hours. They've seen water get close to the top of Pacetti Road before, but never over. When it finally happened, it split the area in two. Crews worked to create a temporary patch so folks could get out of the neighborhood.

Across town, Knowles Road was covered and in Penney Farms, Morton Road and Caroline Boulevard saw significant flooding -- among others.

"We've been working with the DOT contractors. They've placing signs, cones out to move and adjust accordingly as needed," said John Ward, deputy director of Clay County Emergency Management.

York says although it could have been worse, the day was surreal nonetheless.

"Feels like we've had a tropical storm here is what it feels like."
