COLUMBIA COUNTY, Fla. – The city of High Springs will soon now help out Columbia County Fire Rescue when disaster strikes.

The two parties have entered into an automatic aid agreement that starts Sept. 1, according to the High Springs Fire Department.

The agreement will reportedly help both agencies respond better to brush fires, building fires, vehicle accidents and traumatic injuries in the immediate area.

As part of the agreement, the High Springs Fire Department says they will receive a fire engine from Columbia County that will replace a member of their aging fleet.

The replacement is estimated to save the city nearly $150,000.
