BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators say high winds helped destroy a home near Brooker.

Crews from Bradford County rushed to a home on Deden Loop after the owner reported smelling smoke from her attic. She told first responders she noticed the smoke and burning embers after turning on the heating system. The woman made it out unharmed.

While firefighters worked to contain the blaze, investigators say 10-15 mph winds hampered their efforts. A new roof built on top of the existing structure also prevented crews from stopping the fire from ruining the double-wide mobile home.
