ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- Traffic is moving again along Highway 17.

Crews shut down the northbound lanes at Wells Road due to a gas leak.

The leak has been fixed.

Orange Park Fire chief Ty Silcox said Florida Department of Transportation crews ruptured a valve on a 500 gallon underground propane tank.

Contractors working on the site of the new US17/I-295 ramp project hit the tank with a backhoe.

The tank had not been located prior to excavation, according to Silcox.  The Bureau of LP Gas Inspection, Division of Consumer Services is trying to find the owner of the LP tank.
