JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Whether by highway or by airway, more than 43 million Americans are traveling this Thanksgiving, making this one of the busiest travel days of the year.

The call back home is strong this time of year. And traffic at the airport has been moving smoothly for the most part. JAA Spokesman Michael Stewart said, "Today, we're probably looking at about 10,000 people getting out."

No one's complaining about the traffic on the highways either, despite the fact AAA says about 90 percent of travelers are choosing to drive to their holiday destinations.

Travelers say the key to happy trip is a good attitude. Sharon Plugher said, "I think you have to be a little zen-like. Just kind of prepare yourself like it's going to be crowded and that you'll get through it, if you just have the right mental attitude."
