Holland America Cruise liner stuck in Jacksonville due to Sandy
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A large cruise ship that normally motors past Jacksonville is now docked in the River City.
A Holland America Cruise Line ship is here due to the uncertain conditions at sea from Hurricane Sandy. It was supposed to arrive in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday. The 13-day cruise left Quebec on October 14.
In a statement to Action News, Holland America Cruise Line says "we are working with local contacts and U.S. Customs to assess options for disembarkation."
If passengers are allowed to get off the cruise ship, the company says it will provide a complimentary bus ride to the airports in Fort Lauderdale and Miami, and the Port Everglades cruise terminal in Fort Lauderdale, a journey that will take approximately six hours.
