JACKSONVILLE, Fla.-- Things got out of control on one Julington Creek street Saturday night.
"The street here. People use it like it's a speedway," Mike DeVito said.
According to JSO, David Taylor mowed down the brick structure with his Dodge Caravan. When the homeowner heard the crash, he came outside and found the 21-year-old suspect looking nervous.
According to the report, Taylor tried to run, but the homeowner took him to the ground and held him until cops arrived.
"They were right. They did the right thing," DeVito continued.
DeVito says crashes are common on Julington Creek Road. In fact, he says one neighbor has had to replace his brick barrier time and again.
"They ran through his wall, into his camper, pushed it into his house," he continued.
We looked into it, and found out DeVito is right. According to JSO, in the last year there have been 12 crashes in the Julington Creek/Hood Landing area.
Four of those were DUI arrests.
DeVito says he hopes law enforcement beefs up patrols so that next time the damage won't be more than a mailbox.
"They ought to put a motorcycle cop around her every once in a while. Especially at night."
Taylor is charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under the influence.
