JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A homeowner opened fire on two men who broke into his home on the Westside today.

The incident happened on Gasparilla Park Court, just east of Townsend Road and Blanding Boulevard.

Police say the homeowner was sleeping when the sound of breaking glass woke him up. Police say he fired between nine and 14 shots at the suspects.

The suspects ran from the home. Police aren't sure if the suspects were hit.

Police believe the suspects were in their late teens or early 20s.

Authorities say the homeowner was within his rights to defend his home with gunfire.

Call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS if you have any information for police. You will remain anonymous and could receive a cash reward of up to $1,000 if your tip leads to an arrest.

Hopefully, after changing their underwear, they'll change their lives. Otherwise, next time might not be a happy ending....

@Gunny…It says that the police aren't sure if anyone was hit. Hopefully someone will show up at a Hospital with a gunshot wound!
