ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Remnants are left behind from an apparent string of vandalizations in one St. Augustine neighborhood. No culprits have been caught, but one neighbor tells me ever since she's moved in, there have been issues with kids causing trouble.
Looking down the street inside the Heritage Landing at World Golf Village subdivision, things look peaceful. A blue mess has mostly been cleaned up -- or covered up.
Action News obtained seven police reports, all from the same day, all with the same story: Homeowners came outside to find their property had been spray painted.
"To see stuff like this in our subdivision is not good at all," said neighbor Michael Kofil. "It's not going to help our property values which have gone down considerably in the last several years that we've owned."
The homeowners at one house tell Action News they were home when it happened. Their dog started going crazy. When they came outside, their garage had been painted with an inappropriate word. They fixed it themselves.
"The whole window, down the trunk and on the plate," pointed Crystal Hall, showing us her car that had also been hit.
She says they're new to the neighborhood and were shocked someone would do that. Luckily, most of it came off.
"I YouTubed how to get spray paint off a car without ruining the paint and it's lacquer thinner. It's a $10 fix," she said.
She just hopes the trigger-happy painters decide to retire their cans and don't come back to her house - or anyone else's.
"Not sure if they'll ever get caught but hopefully they do," Hall said.
Police need your help with this one. Anyone with information is urged to give them a call.
