Hostage scenario raises question of arming firefighters

They cut the police force down to piddly squat. They won't pay to hire enough to go to each fire alarm going off. If these fire fighters HAD been armed, the stupid suspect would NOT had been able to do what he did at all, much less for as long as he did. Anyone afraid if a gun is showing just how ignorant they are of them. GET EDUCATED, GET PREPARED. PEOPLE KILL, NOT GUNS.

As it worked out only the hostage taker was killed. What would have happened if one of the firefighters had tried to use a gun, could have been much worse?

Firefighters do not need to carry firearms! Police Officers need to be at every fire call prior to firefighters arrival. This policy would be like in some cities that require police to respond before firefighter are allowed to go into some neighborhoods.
