WASHINGTON (AP) - The Republican-led House has voted to repeal President Barack Obama's health care law. But the election-year move stands no chance in the Democratic-controlled Senate.

The vote Wednesday was 244-185. By the Republican count, it was the 33rd time in 18 months that the tea party-infused GOP majority has tried to scrap, defund or scale back the law since grabbing the majority.

The vote came two weeks after the Supreme Court ruled that the law - Obama's signature domestic achievement - was constitutional.

Republicans criticized the law as a job-killing threat to the economic recovery. Democrats said repeal would eliminate consumer protections that already have improved the lives of millions.

Polls show public reaction to the law has been consistently negative. Republicans say voters in November will have the final say.

It would be nice if our government would stop playing political games and get down to doing something to get us out of this mess that they have gotten us into.

I will for the first time in my lifetime vote a straight Republican ticket this year. I am registered NPA/Independent which means in Florida... No votes in the primaries. I don't really care. The main elections are all I'm interested in. The primaries are little more than popularity contest. I should say, I'm NOT voting for ANY incumbant... But, the Democrats have pretty much controlled everything since 2006. If they are already there, they are part of the problem, not part of the solution. That's Democrats and republican BOTH!!! They are both part of the problem. If the new one's don't get it right in the 1st four years, we vote all of them out and put in a new bunch. (It goes NOT take YEARS to solve problems.) I'll bet anything, we wouldn't go through too many elections till things got a lot better!!!
