JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Members of the public who want to attend the trial of Michael Dunn at the new Duval County Courthouse will have to pass a background check.

The credentialing process will begin Friday morning. Those interested must go in person to the Prime Osborn Convention Center at 1000 Water St. [Map]. Credentialing opens at 6 a.m. and ends at 4:30 p.m.

People can choose the dates they wish to watch the trial. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office will run a background check before issuing the credential. The wristband credentials will be color-coded by day, and must be picked up each morning of the trial on the third floor of the Prime Osborn Center.

JSO launched a website with information on how to apply for general seating.  The site also has reports from the case.

Dunn faces a first-degree murder charge in the death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis and three counts of attempted murder.

Police say Dunn fired into a car full of teens after an argument over loud music at a Gate gas station at Baymeadows and Southside boulevards in November 2012. He claims the teens flashed a shotgun, but police did not find a weapon in their possession.

The trial begins Monday and is expected to take three weeks.
