JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Three major events are all crammed into one weekend in northeast Florida.

Action News is making sure you are prepared for potential traffic headaches in and around our area.

Monster Jam, the Donna marathon and Daytona 500 are the three events attracting people to our area.

That's why the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is already preparing for big traffic problems.

Assistant Chief of Special Events Leonard Propper says authorities will be ready when Monster Jam starts on Saturday.

"When those gates open at 5 o'clock, the focus changes to pedestrians allowed to cross Gator Bowl Boulevard. So if you’re not in your parking spot by the time the gates open, your commute will be even longer," says Propper.

Bay Street will be closed to parking starting Saturday at 9 a.m., but there will be plenty of parking around EverBank Field for people heading to the show.

Pedestrians are a concern too on Sunday for the 26.2 with Donna, a marathon to benefit breast cancer research.

For most of the day, parts of Butler Boulevard will be closed.

And in the morning, A1A will be closed in both directions from Ponte Vedra to Duval County.

On top of all that, the Daytona 500 on Sunday could back things up on some major interstates, even in our area.

Traveling on I-95 headed south toward Daytona could get hairy.

The Florida Department of Transportation is making adjustments.

"With construction projects that are going on, there have been stipulations and restrictions built into the contracts to avoid lane closures and road closures during those events," said FDOT spokeswoman Laurie Sanderson.

Action News has all of the lane closures and alternate routes you may want to look at to make your commute easier.
