Hundreds of animals adopted in nation's largest adoption event
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Hundreds of local pets have found new homes, adopted in the largest pet adoption event in the country.
More than 1,000 pets from more than a dozen area shelters were up for adoption at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds over the weekend. By the end of the three day event, more than 800 pets found a home.
All pets adopted were spayed or neutered, and micro-chipped. Organizers say the purpose of the fair is to make room for more pets in area shelters.
