JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- More than 40 flights have been canceled at Jacksonville International Airport. Leaving many people stranded. Most of these flights were headed to Newark, JFK, or Dulles.

Airlines across the board have canceled thousands of flights. And Amtrak has now begun shutting down train service across the Northeast. New York, Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore are shutting down their subways, buses and trains as well.

Stranded passenger Giovanni Daniels says he just wants to get home. "I'm hoping now to fly to Charlotte, then drive up through the storm and hopefully get home. sometime today," he says.

Hurricane Sandy is expected to blow ashore tonight or early Tuesday along the New Jersey coast. So flights will continue to be canceled through the remainder of the storm.
