MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- The Marion County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a husband and wife as a murder-suicide.

Deputies say a couple was found dead in the Stonecrest subdivision on Wednesday, but they are not releasing their identities at this time.

Reports says the wife was staying in a nearby assisted living home and was checked out by her husband on Friday, August 23.
On Monday, August 26, neighbors heard what they thought were two gunshots, but they were not sure where the shots originated.

On Wednesday, they noticed mail building up in the couple's mail box and they became suspicious.

The couple was later discovered inside their home.

The Special Investigations Bureau is now investigating the case as a murder-suicide and Action News will bring you more information as it develops.
