JACKSONVILLE (ActionNewsJax.com) -- Isaac has been downgraded to a tropical storm, but the threat remains in place for folks along the Gulf Coast.

Isaac now has top sustainedwinds of 70 mph, just below hurricane status.  The storm is about 50 miles west-southwest of New Orleans, where it is moving slowly and drenching the area in rain.

Forecasters are warning there is danger in the expected storm surge, as well as major risk for flooding.
