JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man is in the hospital after a shooting in a Southside apartment complex. JSO reports he accidentally shot himself in the head while celebrating the new year with family inside an apartment.

Thanks for all of your supportive comments about how funny this is and how he got what he deserved for drinking. This was my friend's father and she is very traumatized by the situation and the fact that you think that this it is okay to make fun of it shows how low your intellectual level is. Instead of being negative, you can show support and help this family. You should all be ashamed of yourselves because it's not the first shooting accident and it won't be the last, and next time it might just be your father.

Booze and weapons don't mix, hope this guy wasn't going to be another of the idiots who use a firearm to ring in the New Year. Each year way too many people are killed or injured by fools firing weapons in the air with no thought to the dangers. Sadly this time it sounds like the person injured was the one intending on firing the weapon, just hope I am wrong and that he recovers. Sad start to the New Year.
