JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says one of its officers was hurt after colliding with a female driver on Bowden Road Tuesday evening.

Investigators say the woman was turning towards the Interstate 95 on-ramp when she hit an officer responding to a call around 11 p.m. JSO says the officer did not have his lights on at the time.

The wreck left the police cruiser with significant damage on the driver's side and the officer had to be cut from the vehicle by rescue crews. He was taken to the hospital.

JSO says it is investigating witnesses' claims that the driver ran a red light. Charges are pending.

got a camera at that light ??? did any law enforcement see the alleged violation ??? then stick those pending charges where the sun doesn't shine !!! eyewitnesses are unreliable & their words are meaningless in a courtroom !!! they say tomato, you say tomatoe ???
