JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Funeral services are underway Monday for a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office motorman found dead in his home.

JSO says 45-year-old Douglas Parsons died at his home on Monday of natural causes.

Spokeswoman Melissa Bujeda says Parsons served the city as a member of the sheriff's office for 16 years. She says he also spent seven years in the Navy.

She notes he was a beloved husband and father, as well as a respected law enforcement professional and friend to many people.

Funeral services are taking place at the North Jacksonville Baptist Church at 8531 North Main Street at 12:30 p.m. He will be honorably laid to rest at the Jacksonville National Cemetery at 4083 Lannie Road at 2:30.
