JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville Sheriff's Office detective has resigned amid allegations that he made threats against President Barack Obama.

Sheriff John Rutherford released a statement on Thursday saying JSO learned on Nov. 9 of the alleged threats regarding the president and members of the Democratic Party. JSO then questioned detective Sam Koivisto. They said he admitted to making the statements.

"We found his comments to be unacceptable workplace conduct, as opposed to legitimate threats," Rutherford said in a written statement.

An internal investigation was to begin, but instead Koivisto resigned. The statement also says the U.S. Secret Service has been notified.

The three comments posted on this are straight from the "playbook" of Fox & Limbaugh. How sad to be like you. I am also offended that you still keep bringing up President Obama's birth certificate. I have family members that were born in Hawaii when it was a possession~would you consider them non Americans? How dare you! I encourage you to seek information that is available besides the current sources you obviously do. I may not agree with your thinking, but I read all I can from each "camp." Try it you will be more educated to understand what is truly happening vice your narrow views.

hell, are you kidding,, if everyone resigned who was unhappy with the election,, then 80& of americans would be unemployed !!! granted you can't go around espousing threats against the president,, even if you feel strongly for a high powered rifle with scope for xmas,, or that terrorists would blow him up someway.. after all he is our illegally elected president, as his right to occupy the white house has been doctored by hawaian officials & some truly shady birth certificate from our 50th state...yet you simply can't go about praying that air force 1 will drop out of the sky with the o/joe team on it, or under it !!! i think kovisto should have been promoted rather than forced to resign & rutherford over reacted !!! shame on you john... up till now i thought you were a fair man... guess you never heard of the 1st ammendment,,& never had to blow off any steam !!! kovisto should have kept his comments to himself until he was in the company of like minded individuals !!! as for obama's chances of surviving his 2nd term ??? not gonna do it,, read my lips,,, turkeys have a better chance of surviving thanksgiving,, providing my sister in law isn't cooking,, than o has !!!
