JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police took guns off the streets of Jacksonville Saturday as part of their gun buyback event.

Residents turned in their guns -- no questions asked -- to officers at Arlington Baptist Church.

Each received $50 per gun that was turned in.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says one of the purposes of the event is to provide a secure outlet for a citizen to get rid of any unwanted firearms.

The gun bounty program has been in existence since 2006.

Does the media, the police, the Weavers, or the community really think that the local thugs are turning in the guns that they use to commit crimes? If they do then Jacksonville's populace has become too stupid to be worth saving. You cannot protect morons from themselves.
