JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JSO has identified the man the killed in a shooting on the Westside as David Bouthillier, 26.
The shooting happened Monday night on Indian Lakes Court. Neighbors told Action News they are afraid to be anywhere near the crime scene.
"When I came outside my heart dropped to the floor. It actually dropped to the floor because I was like 'Oh my God, that's too close to home,'" said neighbor Sydney Smith.
Neighbors said they had to break up a pretty heated fight Sunday night between two men. Then on Monday afternoon, they say one of those guys was shot and killed in his home in the 5000 block of Indian Lakes Court.
"I heard a gunshot. It was a small-caliber gun," said neighbor Corey Cooper.
According to JSO, the Bouthillier's girlfriend saw the whole thing. She and the victim knew the killer, who hasn't been found.
"You got nine or 10 people in that area that possibly saw what happened and nobody is talking. They're not helping the police and the police are not helping them," said Cooper.
With the amount of shootings in the city and the lack of arrests, neighbors say they're not confident the shooter will be caught.
"Hopefully police will find them so we'll feel more comfortable living here," said neighbor Lawanda Riley.
JSO has a description of the suspect, and may even have a name. Now it's just a matter of tracking him down.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
