JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- JSO identified the woman killed in house fire on the Southside as Dorothy Culpepper, 87.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the fire started at about 4:30 p.m. on Saturday in the 3100 block of Forest Boulevard after kids in the neighborhood noticed smoke and called 911.

When firefighters arrived at the scene they found the house fully engulfed in flames and smoke.

The JSO says a good Samaritan broke one of the home's windows to try to get to Culpepper, but he was forced out because of the heavy smoke.

According to detectives, Culpepper was alone in the home at the time. Neighbors said she lived in the home for more than 50 years.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
