JSO officer arrested on theft charges

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested one of its own on petit theft charges.

Narcotics detective Julio Cerpa is accused of stealing a $49 jar of cream from Bailey's Gym on Merrill Road.

Cerpa has been with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office since 2006.

Action News reporter Catherine Varnum will have the latest on this developing story on CBS47 Action News beginning at 5 p.m.

While I despise police corruption this case doesn't make sense. No officer is going risk his career for 49 bucks. He would make that in 2 hours off duty work as security guard and have change left over. Risk your career to take 50 bucks? Sounds fishy.

He was trying to get big so senterarse wouldnt bone his wife..oh that's right senterfitt only bones his subordinates!!! "when we find out something we act imediately" yeah sure how about half the chiefs boning their girlfriends on duty....this guy is another one to appease the masses. You have protected drug houses and worse but the crack integrity came up with a notice to appear violation....they probably wore tact vests to arrest him...
