JSO officer in crash on Southside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Authorities are investigating a crash involving a JSO officer.

The scene is at Philips Highway and Gran Bay Parkway, near Bayard.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a white Ford Contour slammed into the back of a JSO cruiser.  The driver told police he was busy looking at construction and got distracted. 

JSO says three people were taken to the hospital, but are expected to be ok.

The driver of the car is cited with Careless Driving and Rear-Ending a Vehicle.

No other information, including the officers name, are being released at this time.

Police say one southound lane of Philips Highway will be closed until approximately 1:00 p.m.
