JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Local trailer thefts are on the rise in Jacksonville.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says 73 have been snatched so far this year. That's already double the number taken in 2012.

Police say the suspects drive up and hitch it to their vehicles and leave.

To protect your property, police say all trailers should be marked and kept in a well-lit area. Taking a photo of it and using a lock also help.

Anyone with information about who is doing this is asked to call (904) 630-0500.
