JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The high school football star injured before his career could even begin graduated today from the University of North Florida.
JT Townsend was paralyzed back in October of 2004 after suffering a spinal chord injury while playing football for Episcopal high school.
At graduation today he said he was happy to be there to reach one of his goals, especially after what happened to him. And his fellow graduates were just as happy for him.
"It feels great," Townsend said. "I wasn't expecting a standing ovation but it feels really great." He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management.
JT Townsend has started a foundation
to help serve communities in need right here in Jacksonville.
