JTA has record ridership numbers in October

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Transportation Authority reports October ridership hit a monthly record of 1,244,193 passengers.

Despite a 50% increase in fixed route fares, JTA said bus ridership was at 1,026,503. Meanwhile, boardings on the free Skyway topped the 100,000 mark.

"As the new CEO, I am especially excited about leading an organization which is experiencing positive ridership trends," said JTA Executive Director and CEO Nathaniel P. Ford, Sr. "I look forward to making a contribution to continue this positive trend of breaking ridership records -- which ultimately transfers into improved access and mobility for all residents and visitors."

The five months with the highest ridership totals in JTA history were:

1. October 2012 - 1,244,193

2. October 2011 - 1,222,315

3. September 2011 - 1,189,394

4. August 2011 - 1,166,644

5. October 2010 - 1,126,289
