ORANGE PARK, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Transportation Authority is moving an express bus stop located in the middle of a construction zone in Clay County. The change came after Action News began asking questions about potential hazards.

The Florida Department of Transportation is undergoing a major road construction project on U.S. 17 at Wells Road in Orange Park. Because of the construction, there’s no sidewalk leading to the stop and dirt and concrete barriers surround it. The bus stop was there before the construction project began, but the construction did not impact the stop until a few days ago, according to JTA spokesman John Finotti.

Drivers said the stop seemed out of place.

“You'd think they move it, safer for people safer for traffic,” said Michael Stars. “It’s less things people have to think about when it's already a well-occupied road.”

Finotti said JTA will move the stop down the road until the construction is completed.  The agency recently expanded service on the X4 line as way to serve more commuters in Clay County.
