Jacksonville Beach Police Chief Apologizes
Jacksonville Beach, Fla--The Jacksonville Beach Police chief is apologizing for making a mistake.
Action News has learned Police Chief Bruce Thomason called the man they said was a person of interest in the beach rape. As it turns out, Joseph Dean was not the right guy. Police say they had a confidential informant who said the suspects name was Joseph and had an alias of "sarge." The chief told Dean they made a mistake putting his information out there too early in the investigation. Dean says the apology helps.
Police say a 45-year-old homeless woman was raped on the beach over the weekend. She came in to the Casa Marina hotel asking for help.
