Jacksonville Beach-based Coast Guard unit earns readiness award
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. - The crew of Coast Guard Aids to Navigation Team Jacksonville Beach received the prestigious Sumner I. Kimball award for excellence Friday.
The award recognizes excellence in operational readiness and vessel condition.
The crew of ANT Jacksonville Beach was recognized for superior performance and for receiving an inspection grade of 48 out of a possible 50 points.
Capt. Tom Allan, commanding officer of Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville, presided over the ceremony.
ANT Jacksonville Beach conducts maintenance and repair operations for aids to navigation throughout Southern Georgia, Northern Florida, and parts of Florida's Gulf Coast.
