JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Humane Society
is calling on animal lovers to wear orange to the city's Finance Committee on Friday, Aug. 9.
The meeting is to discuss potential cuts to JHS partner Animal Care and Protective Services (ACPS).
The budget cuts will limit the amount of time an animal has to find a home to 14 days, which JHS says will cause euthanasia rates to rise.
The shelter is making it easy for concerned citizens to spread the word about wearing orange.
The Pawfessionals, a group of young professionals who support JHS, have developed Facebook cover photos and profile pictures that can be added to your Facebook page.
First Coast No More Homeless Pets has also worked to collect signatures and Jacksonville Animals started the Save our Shelter Jacksonville Facebook page to keep citizens up to date on the issue.
