ATLANTIC BEACH, Fla.-- Look out! Action News found some teens are on a mission.

We found the group from Jacksonville Football Club at One Ocean Resort -- waiting on their role models.

"We've been out here since 4 trying to find them," 13-year-old Meagan Ando said.

"Them" is the U.S. Women's National Soccer team. They're kicking off a match against Scotland on Saturday, and are staying at One Ocean.

The girls not only hung around for pictures and autographs, they even left a special message in the nearby sand: Go USA.

"My goal was to meet at least like five or six of the players. I met more than that, so I was very excited," 13-year-old Ireland James said.

Jacksonville is slowly but surely becoming a super hub for sports. Not only do the Jaguars play eight home games at EverBank Field, but there's the Georgia/Florida game, The Gator Bowl -- and recently, a number of international events.

The Men's National Soccer team hosted a friendly match against Scotland last year, The Davis Cup just wrapped up, and soon, Philly's MLS team will play an exhibition game against Montreal.

As if that's not enough, Everbank is also hosting a Lacrosse classic at the end of the month.

"We're working hard for a lot of different events, and to continue making Jacksonville a destination for a lot of these kinds of major sports and entertainment activities so people can come and see downtown and see parts of the city," said David DeCamp with the city of Jacksonville.

The girls we found say they're grateful for the chance to watch their heroes in their own back yard. They hope the women's team comes back, and hope they can one day acheive the same dream.

"That's who I look up to and who Iwant to be one day," James said.

Tomorrow's kickoff is at 5 p.m. Walk-up tickets are still available.
