JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Jacksonville man was convicted this week in a 2011 armed burglary.
Wilman Collando-Pena, 26, was convicted on charges of attempted first-degree murder and armed burglary.
In October 2011, Collando-Pena went to the Driftwood Apartments on University Boulevard, knocked on an apartment door and forced his way inside. Collando-Pena then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at a 29-year-old woman living in the apartment.
He tried to shoot the woman, but the gun jammed. The woman was able to push Collando-Pena out of the apartment.
Collando-Pena faces life in prison. He will be sentenced the week of May 13, 2013.
