JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A Jacksonville man faces the death penalty after a jury found him guilty in a 2009 shooting at a Jacksonville nightclub.

According to the States Attorney’s Office, Rodney Newberry, 44, was convicted Friday for the 2009 death of Terrese Stevens.

Prosecutors say in December 2009 Newberry and two other co-defendants robbed and shot Stevens numerous times at a nightclub off of North Pearl Street.

The jury could recommend the 44-year-old face the death penalty after being found guilty on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery.

The court is expected to rule on Feb. 7 if Newberry should be sentenced to death or be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
