JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man was found guilty Thursday  on charges of Sexual Battery, Attempted Capital Sexual Battery, Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition, Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, and Sale, Distribution, or Showing of Obscene Materials to Minors.

Anthony Dale Carter, 50, was sentenced to  mandatory life on the Sexual Battery charge, life in prison for Lewd or Lascivious Molestation, 30 years for Attempted Capital Sexual Battery, 15 years for Lewd or Lascivious Exhibition, and five years for Showing Obscene Materials to Minors.

The abuse took place from January 2009 through May 2011. During that time, Carter attempted to use sex toys on a 9-year-old girl and committed a sex act on the child. Carter also showed pornography to the girl, including pictures of adults having sex with children. The abuse was discovered after the child was examined by her pediatrician, and the doctor noticed swelling in the genital area.

"Our young victim was very brave to face her abuser in court and share what he did to her. This little girl's testimony helped send this Defendant to prison for the rest of his life," said Assistant State Attorney Theresa Simak.

There is hope out there for anyone that's been abused, this little girl is proof that with enough courage, children can put a stop to being abused. Hope only the best for her in the long road to recovery.

It is disgusting that it took 2 years of abuse on this child for this pervert to be put away! May God help this child!
