TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Four Florida State University fraternity brothers were placed behind bars last week, accused of hazing their pledges.

Police say it happened at the Sigma Chi house in Tallahassee. They began investigating after someone called in an anonymous tip in October, claiming they were pressured into drinking from full liquor bottles taped to their hands.

"We're not aware of any hospitalizations," said Jim Russell of the FSU Police Department, "but people were to the point of vomiting and actually urinating on themselves so it was pretty serious."

Police say four men organized and supervised the initiation ritual.

Action News has confirmed two of them, 21-year-old Michael Salem and 19-year-old Charles Kalb are from Jacksonville. The other two have been identified as Alex Lavene, 21, and Tyler Linabury, 19. All are charged with misdemeanor hazing.

The Sigma Chi chapter at FSU was suspended following the arrests. The international office released this statement:

"Sigma Chi stands ready to protect the safety and security of all its members and, if the charges prove to be true, will render a more complete decision by early next week."

FSU's vice president of student affairs said the school is reviewing the case to determine if any student conduct codes were violated.
