JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A teen from Jacksonville is accused of shooting and killing his classmate who went to First Coast High School in early February.
The shooting took place at Beverly Hills Park near Rutledge H. Pearson Elementary School on Roanoke Boulevard, near Waynesboro Avenue.
According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, 17-year-old Gregory D. Robinson, of Jacksonville, is accused in the death of 18-year-old Adrian Watkins, Jr.
According to JSO, witnesses told police that Robinson admitted to shooting Watkins.
Police said witnesses also gave the characteristics of Robinson's gun he used to kill Watkins.
Police showed a picture of Robinson to a witness, according to JSO.
After the witness provided this information, police issued a warrant on Robinson's home on Leonid Road near Lem Turner Road, police said. This is when police found the gun, in the laundry room's attic, with the same characteristics, according to JSO.
Police said a teen found Watkins' body in a ditch at Beverly Hills Park near the elementary school around 6:30 p.m. Feb. 3.
Both Robinson and Watskin attended First Coast High School before they were expelled. This was after they got into a fistfight at First Coast High School at the end of January.
Police said Robinson is facing a murder charge.
