JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The City of Jacksonville is recovering this morning after Tropical Storm Beryl made landfall at 12:10 a.m. Monday.

There are no reports of deaths or injuries to any residents.

Some 20,000 customers are without power, according to JEA, and the Mathews Bridge is closed to traffic.

The storm disrupted countless Memorial Day celebrations throughout the Jacksonville area.  Monday's garbage collection has been canceled and will resume on Tuesday.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue is working more than 350 reports of trees blocking roadways this morning.

Jacksonville city officials are asking residents to phone in reports of storm damage to 904-630-CITY (2489).  Any reports of power outages can be directed to JEA at 904-655-6000.

If you see a downed powerline, assume it is live and do not touch it.  Call 911 for help.

How many of you lived in Jacksonville back in the early 60's? If you did you will remember how long it took to get power back on. I lived in Hollywood when Andrew came through. My parents were without power for about two weeks. Dade county was hit very hard and had a lot of homes and businesses with out power. They did the same thing there that they are doing here. Nursing homes, assisted living home and then the largest area's population wise that had no power. The small areas are always the last to get restored. Give them time and they will get to you.
