EUGENE, Ore. (AP) - Sanya Richards-Ross set a meet record in the 400 meters Sunday in the U.S. track trials, finishing in 49.28 seconds for a spot on the Olympic team.

Richards-Ross also plans to run in the 200 in the trials at Hayward for a shot at a double in the London Games.

Richards-Ross is the wife of Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback Aaron Ross.  He will be allowed to miss some of training camp to support his wife in London in late July and early August.

Dee Dee Trotter finished in 50.02 and Francena McCorory was third in 50.43 for the other two spots on the team.

Natasha Hastings, who was on the 1,600 relay team that won gold in Beijing, finished seventh in 51.28.

Richards-Ross was the favorite going into the Beijing Olympics, but faded on the stretch and settled for the bronze.

Her mark in Sunday's final surpassed Chandra Cheeseborough's record 49.28 set in 1984.

First, congratulations to Sanya. Second, how did she set a record if she had the exact same time as the previous record holder?

No..but it's a fact, without 'sports' there would be a lot more drugs and crime in this world.

Woo-Hoo…..Who really cares? Do the Olympics really impact the average 'working' American?
