JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Today is the day Shad Kahn has been waiting for.
Wednesday, the sale of the Jacksonville Jaguars becomes final. It has been about a month in the making.
It is hard to forget that afternoon in November when Wayne Weaver made some pretty huge announcements. Head Coach Jack del Rio was fired and Wayne Weaver was hanging over the reigns.
We have come a long way since November 29. It's the day Jaguars Nation learned a man named Shad Kahn would begin the process of taking over the team.
It has been a whirlwind month--not just for the franchise, but for the fans as well. As soon as the word got out - along with Shad's picture - a firestorm of "stache" support followed.
Fans filled EverBank Field for the final games of the season with the now trademark Kahn accessory - a mustache. And Wednesday, all of that excitement and anticipation becomes a reality.
There is no set time Wednesday when ownership power shifts from the Weavers to Kahn. And there will not be any official ceremony. But Wednesday is the day the sale becomes a done deal.
Kahn is not going to be speaking with the media today. His spokesman says he has been very busy. But Jim Woodcock did release the following statement:
"We anticipate this will be a great day for Shad and Ann Kahn, and it comes at the busiest time to date for Shad with the closing, league travel and search for the next Jaguars head coach well underway. Shad is looking forward to truly engaging with everyone in Jacksonville in the weeks ahead."
