JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert has been named the starter for week one of the regular season against the Kansas City Chiefs.
Head coach Gus Bradley also said Gabbert will miss the rest of the preseason because of a small break in his thumb that will not require surgery.
Bradley told Gabbert, "You're the guy now, go out and compete."
Bradley felt that Gabbert has ownership of the offense and his talents give the Jags the chance to push the ball down the field.
Bradley expects Gabbert to be ready for the opener at home on September 8.
