JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew has been placed on injured reserve after undergoing surgery on his foot.

Last season's leading rusher in the NFL has been out with a foot injury since October 21.  He suffered the injury early in the game against the Oakland Raiders.

He's missed nine games since.

Also today, the Jaguars signed defensive tackle Jerome Long from the Kansas City Chiefs. Long has been on the Chiefs' practice squad for the first 15 games. Long is a 7th round draft pick from San Diego State.

Long earned All-Mountain West Conference Second Team honors as a senior with a career-high 69 tackles, eight of them for a loss, and five sacks. Long is from Los Osos, California.

Lots of Narrow comments here. Running Backs get hurt, sometimes often. You can't blame MJD for trying to get paid for a position that has an average career of 3.5 years. but to throw around the trade word and done word is ridiculous. MJD is the type of back that can produce at pro bowl level for another six years. Get well and see you next year.

Gunny, you are so right as always! The peasants (ticket buyers) don't mean anything at all! Try if you are able to remember the first of the season. He didn't show up for camp,I think he finally arrived after the season started and then got hurt. This jerk can't even look people in the eye, always looking at his feet for some reason.

Has anyone told MJD it's a good thing they didn't give him that extra money he wanted, it would have been pretty expensive watching him warm that bench all these games. Looks like MJD went down the same road Mathis did, I used to have a lot of respect for him.
