JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - Kevin Elliott had a 77-yard touchdown reception, likely solidifying his spot on the regular-season roster, and the Jacksonville Jaguars beat the Atlanta Falcons 24-14 in their preseason finale Thursday night.

The teams took vastly different approaches to the game. The Jaguars played their offensive starters into the second quarter; the Falcons played just two regulars: linebacker Akeem Dent and defensive tackle Peria Jerry.

The results hardly showed that.

Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert fumbled on the opening play. Trying to pitch to Rashad Jennings, Gabbert's toss hit fullback Greg Jones in the backside. The Falcons recovered, and Jacquizz Rodgers scored on the next play. Gabbert and his fellow starters stayed in for 25 plays, but failed to score.

Backups Jalen Parmele and Elliott picked up the slack for Jacksonville.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. --The Jacksonville Jaguars close out the preseason tonight against the Atlanta Falcons at Everbank Field.

Blaine Gabbert and the first team offense will see limited action. Mike Mularkey says he will see how they do before deciding on how long they will play. Montel Owens will not play at running back due to a stiff knee. Rashad Jennings is the NFL's leading rusher, Jennings will probably get a few touches.

This is the game where starters work up a sweat and then give way to guys trying to make the team. Jalen Parmalee and Richard Murphy will fight it out for a roster spot at running back.

The Jags will cut the roster from 75 to the 53 they want to take into the season.
