JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- First there was a petition to bring Tim Tebow to Jacksonville, then a local law firm made a video. Now, there's a new website about the former Nease High School standout, too. But this time, it's not about bringing the star back home.
The organizers say they're not against Tebow. They just want the city to support Jags management.
It's been the talk of town for weeks. Jags fans are torn when it comes to Tim Tebow calling EverBank Field home.
It's a Tebow tug-of-war.
Local law firm Morgan and Morgan just uploaded a video to YouTube. In it, the firm is urging owner Shad Khan to sign the athlete raised in the River City.
"It's a little absurd, to be honest with you," said John Caputo with the Bold City Brigade.
His fan group isn't buying tickets on the Tebow train. The Bold City Brigade now has its own Tebow campaign in place. And the website is blowing up.
"The reason we started the website really is because we feel like there are a lot of Jaguar fans whose voices aren't being heard," said Caputo.
The name of the website
stems from a remark Jags general manager David Caldwell made back in January that even if Tebow were to be released, he couldn't see a scenario in which the Jags would pick him up. But John John Caputo stresses to me they aren't anti-Tebow.
"It's not even necessarily that we don't want him to be a Jaguar. We're just tired of the circus. If he'd be willing to switch positions or do whatever it was that the Jaguars would want him to do to come in here, then I don't think you'd see a huge uproar from our group," he said.
While many fans say Tebow would help pack the stands, experts say adding another weak quarterback to the roster won't solve any problems on the field.
