JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The temple of teal has gone black on the field. Jacksonville's favorite football team now sports a new darker, sleeker look. And it's all part of a season full of change.
"Mr. Khan is a business genius. So I think he did something to add a little spark. Get some excitement going, which it did, said Sports Mania store manager Jeff Fingland.
The transition isn't as seamless off the field. Vendors like Fingland say they are having a harder time helping fans find the new black jersey.
"Originally we were all under impression that the transition to the black jerseys was going to happen next year. Well all of a sudden they came out this year. And we have a very good stock of the teal jerseys," said Fingland.
Nike became the official brand of the NFL this season. Fingland says orders for the black jerseys are backed up. While his shelves sit stocked with the teal ones.
"They don't seem to have very much stock in the black jerseys for us right at the moment," he said.
Fingland still hopes he can sell his stock of teal jerseys to fans looking for the next best thing. "A lot of people still say, it's 90 degrees outside. Black is going to be a little to hot, so they will go with the teal or the white," he said.
The Jaguars have not worn black jerseys since 2009. This won't be the only wardrobe change for the team.
The Jaguars will get new redesigned jerseys next season.
